The school Sant Gervasi is a teachers’ cooperative with a more than thirty year long tradition. It has currently become a referent in what regards the educational community in Catalonia.

Our educational project regards schooling as a means to guarantee that every one can boost their identity traits and personal capabilities up to their maximum potential. This is a school made for the people, an open school with a great capability for innovation. Education is to be related to and involved with the real world, it has to commit people to the new times.

Sant Gervasi conforms a community of over 1300 students and 120 teachers offering pre-schooling, primary and secondary education, high school, postgraduate studies and university masters...

WE ARE INNOVATIVE
New information and communication technologies are part of our everyday teaching. They are both used as elements to help our teachers while also implying a greater motivation for the students.
Using new technologies has led to a methodological change that brings about a much more significant learning.

The Sant Gervasi School has over 400 computers with internet access, 50 projectors, 5 computer rooms, multimedia libraries, interactive digital boards and, from the age of 14 students have classrooms equipped with over 30 computers that allow for the daily use of new technologies. We also have an Intranet with didactic contents and we are participating in Research Projects at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

OUR LINGUISTIC PROJECT
We are preparing our students to become a part of the multicultural and multilingual context we live in.
We introduce our kindergarten children and pre-school kids to the English language. In this manner, and throughout the years, our students will have quite a high command of the English language. By adding English as a core subject from such an early stage, and through linguistic immersion, our students will be able to use it with fluency. Practising and learning languages at this age allows for a better acquisition of new linguistic structures in the future.
At the age of ten, students can choose to learn French or German, and will continue to learn the language of their choice until they get to college.
From the age of 12 onwards, students are taught science solely in English, and all the way through high school. We intend to have other subjects taught only in English in the near future.
Apart from a good command of these languages, we also intend to give our students an open and global vision of Europe and the whole world. We promote stays abroad and cultural exchange with other countries.

SCIENTIST SPIRIT
We foment the teaching of science by stimulating the scientist spirit of our students, encouraging their observational, descriptive, analytical and deductive capabilities, to allow them to consolidate and build their own scientific knowledge. We also encourage and promote research and development, which is carried out by students through practical, cooperation and responsible work, carried out in teams. We have made some spaces available to allow for scientific research, that are adapted to the students needs according to their educational level.

ATTENTION TO DIVERSITY
We tend to diversity as seen from a broad-minded point of view, while encompassing students with temporary or permanent special educational needs, derived from personal situations or learning difficulties or adapting to those who are exceptionally gifted.
In order to achieve this, we have got the necessary resources to allow every student to develop their own capabilities to the highest possible level. In addition, a psycho-pedagogic team coordinates and provides students, families and teachers with specialised advice, at all times.

RELATIONSHIP WITH FAMILIES
We are well aware of the importance that has the trust families have put on us. This is the reason why we establish a good, agile, direct and permanent communication with the mothers and fathers of our students.
This communication is carried out through meetings held at the beginning and the end of the course, through personal interviews, social activities from the school, speeches, seminars and conferences.
One to one attention to our students and good communication among teachers, professors and tutors implies families get information that corresponds to reality itself or to that of the child or adolescent. The whole teaching team is available at all times for families, to analyse any events that might affect personal or intellectual growth of the student.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
As an extension of the educational action, the school puts forward an array of extracurricular activities, carefully chosen for their educational value and coordinated by specialised teachers. This means that the school organises activities such as basketball, swimming, theatre, music, chess, skating, sign language, ski, alpinism, summer camp… among others.

AN EXPANSION PROJECT
The school is undergoing an extension plan at the moment, new buildings will be added, a big auditorium, swimming pool, parking and a sports complex will be built, as well as the compromise to maintain didactic resources on offer up to date.

Sant Gervasi school is an institution adapted to modern times, innovative, clearly driven towards providing a good service and, above all, entrepreneurial and geared towards a new conception for the education of the 21st century.
